VAWA FRAUD***Being Charged more than $5,000 for a VAWA case could indicate an ILLEGAL FEE, get a second opinion

Be careful about false promises about being able to immigrate through VAWA especially if you had problems with immigration such as being detained, deported, removed, or being subject to bars or grounds of inadmissibility (i.e. "castigos") such as 10 year permanent bars, fraud/misrepresentation, alien smuggling etc. If these bars happened before having a US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident parent, spouse or child, they are NOT waiveable through VAWA.

In these cases, someone could get a VAWA petition approved, however, they will not be eligible to become a legal permanent resident or get a green card. Also, remember that any application that is denied by immigration such as an adjustment of status application can result in enforcement action against the applicant such as being detained by immigration, executing a deportation or removal order, or even initiating removal proceedings. Although VAWA can waive certain bars, these bars can only be waived if they were connected to the extreme cruelty/abuse inflicted by a qualifying USC/LPR parent, spouse or child.
