Although, DACA recipients may have been granted deferred action, the Department of Homeland Security, may choose to enforce a removal or deportation order or initiate removal or deportation proceedings against someone who has been order deported/removed, arrested, or convicted of a crime.
Having DACA does not guarantee protection from being removed or deported. If you currently have DACA and a removal or deportation order, you should speak to an attorney to discuss legal options about reopening the removal or deportation order and possibly having it dismissed, or explore any other possible legal options.
Any DACA recipient who has a spouse, parent or child who is a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, or may have been the victim of a crime of violence, assault, domestic violence or other crime could be eligible to apply for a U Visa, VAWA or other type of immigration benefit.
Even though DACA may provide some protection from being detained or deported, you should explore any other legal options that could be available to you. Don't wait until you are detained by ICE or CBP at the airport or other immigration inspection area.
