Common SCAMS: "Did you enter illegally? I can get you a work permit in 6 months and your green card in 2-3 years"

Although there are many ways someone can apply for a work permit and get a green card, it is apparent that people appearing to be attorneys or immigration advocates on social media are telling people that they can help them get a work permit in 6 months and their green card in 2-3 years, even if they entered the U.S. illegally.

Although, this could happen for some people, it is very rare, and most people who entered the U.S. illegally will not be eligible to get a work permit or become a resident in 2-3 years.

There is a lot of false hope on the internet, so be careful. If it is too good to be true, it probably is. If it costs a lot of money, it could be a scam, and if they are asking for payment by phone, through gifts cards, or by making a deposit at a bank, it is probably a scam too.

When in doubt, talk to an immigration attorney to really know whether or not you qualify for a work permit or to become a legal permanent resident.
